Delivery

We will deliver orders over £250.00 up to a distance of 100 miles using our own transport. We charge £80.00 per hour one-way to cover the costs of fuel and wages with a minimum charge of £30.00. For instance, a delivery to Oxford taking half an hour would be billed at £40.00. We also use pallet line and a delivery firm to take plants further outside our delivery area or to augment our own delivery service. Prices start from £70.00.
All costs above exclude VAT @ 20%.

Terms and Conditions General and Delivery. (Trade)

Delivery Terms & Conditions

  • We will always need easy and safe access to the delivery destination. We expect that the van can be parked at, or very close to the location. Extra charges may apply if the plants need to be carried for a distance from the van. Please ensure that we know about any issues with delivery before we leave the site. This may include tight roads, dangerous or broken roads, tight entrances, ongoing roadworks, etc. Giving us this information allows us to get to you in a safe and timely manner
  • If you would like to request a delivery day, please let us know when you are confirming your plant list. We are almost always able to give the day you choose, though in our busier times, there may need to be a 1 or 2-day leeway given. Delivery times on your allocated day are not guaranteed. We will let you know whether it will be in the morning, or afternoon, but we won’t give a specific time. We should be able to give a more accurate update on the day when deliveries have started, so please call the office and we will do our best to give an approximate time
  • Pallet deliveries are guaranteed 9am-5pm delivery on the day you have selected. We are unable to give anymore accuracy than that as the lorry will be loaded with other companies’ deliveries. Pallets can be booked up to 48 hours before you require delivery
  • We cannot leave our crates behind as we need them for future deliveries
  • There is no guarantee that the driver of the van knows our plants well enough to say which ones are which, therefore, we request that orders are not checked off while they are being delivered and the driver isn’t hanging around. Any errors/ queries must be raised with the office and we will rectify them. The pallet network drivers can take no responsibility for any issues with your order, and again, must be raised with our office or sales team
  • Deliveries to London will include surcharges, therefore prices will seem higher than elsewhere. This is to cover congestion charges and time spent driving. We have previously quoted for deliveries to London, and they have taken over double the time expected
  • In the event that more than one of our team needs to deliver (heavy or very tall items), additional charges will occur. It is recommended that for large trees or topiary, you have a member of your team available on the day of delivery
  • Whilst we realise this is not always possible, it is recommended that you or your client receives the plants at least one day before planting. This gives the opportunity for maximum planting time, and allows us to rectify any issues prior to plants going in
  • All delivery prices are ex-VAT (20%)
  • Babylon Plants reserves the right to amend or cancel deliveries should any unexpected circumstances arise (staff sickness, weather, payment issues)

Delivery via our own transport is driveway/ front garden/ kerbside only, unless you have requested that plants are taken to a specific location on site. There will be an additional charge if our driver is to take the plants to the back garden, for example. Please let us know prior to delivery if this is required. We will not charge extra if it is a very small order, or there is a team of gardeners/ landscapers there to help unload the van

    General Terms and conditions

    • All new customers’ first order must be paid in full prior to delivery or collection. Customers who have a credit account must pay the invoice in full within 30 days of receiving the plants
    • We no longer take cheques. BACS, Credit & Debit Cards, and Cash are all acceptable forms of payment. We are not currently accepting American Express
    • If an order requires us to order in a lot of stock, we may ask that a deposit is paid for a portion of the order. In the event the order is cancelled, there will be a restocking fee. The cost of this will depend on the supplier of the plants we have purchased
    • There may also be a deposit payment requested for contract grown orders. This will be discussed with the sales team at the quoting stage
    • All complaints or queries must be made swiftly. Please use admin@babylonplants.co.uk for any invoicing or payment issues, and sales@babylonplants.co.uk for delivery, plant quality or quantity complaints
    • Orders of perennials, grasses and ferns averaging less than 3 per variety will be subject to a 50% surcharge on the whole invoice due to the time it takes to process such orders and their retail nature. This is true of self-collected orders and orders picked by the team.
    • Until all plants are paid for in full, they remain the property of Babylon Plants
    • Our prices are constantly changing as we sell stock and source replacements whilst we grow more. During busy periods, quotes can change rapidly as lines sell out and are replaced with more expensive bought in stock. Speedy confirmations can help avoid that issue, but we also inform customers of those changes when the order is confirmed.
    • Should there be a default of payment, there will be a 0.75% monthly interest added which will continue to accumulate until the invoice is paid in full

    Plants Terms & Conditions

    • Any plant quality issues must be raised as soon as you have received the plants and notice a problem
    • If non-faulty plants are returned (at management discretion), they must be saleable, well cared for condition. We will not accept returns on plants that have not been watered or fed correctly
    • Whilst we have no time limited ‘plant guarantee’ in place, to have the best opportunity to return plants, please do so as soon as you possibly can
    • We cannot accept responsibility for conditions the plants are planted in, amount of watering that you or your client do, or weather impacts
    • If you have experienced failed plants, we will investigate the remaining plants from the same batch in the nursery to determine whether the problem came from here, and to ensure the issue hasn’t progressed elsewhere
    • Returns payments will take the form of a credit note which can be used against the next purchase on your account
    • This does not affect your statutory rights

Terms and Conditions General and Delivery.(Retail)

    • Retail customers are unable to use any type of credit. All payments must be made on the point of gathering the plants yourself or collecting the plants after placing an order for us to pick
    • On the very rare occasion that we have already selected some plants for our trade customers, we reserve the right to refuse the sale of selected lines. We will always offer very close alternatives
    • When visiting the nursery, please do not select plants from our designated order zones (in front of the building at the entrance, in between the tunnels, the first section of the new area). We have maps and we can show you where not to take plants from. It is also important that no plants are taken from the ‘Mother Stock’ locations, as we use these plants to propagate in the future. Tunnels 1 & 2 are specific propagation rooms, and it is highly likely that those plants will not yet have rooted. Please double check with a member of the team before selecting any of these
    • Whilst we request that retail customers attend our open days, we can take larger orders via email if you are unable to attend on a Saturday. Please email sales@babylonplants.co.uk with your requests, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. If you are needing to visit to look at larger plants, i.e. specimens and trees, it is important to let us know, so someone from the sales team can help you. The rest of the team will be out gathering and tending to orders for our trade customers
    • All our plant lists are ex-VAT (20%)
    • When plants are purchased in quantities 3 or more, we offer a 20% discount. This applies to Grasses, Ferns, Lavender, Herbaceous Perennials. The offer does not apply to Shrubs, Specimens and Trees. Orders of a significant quantity may include an overall discount, to be discussed with the sales team
    • Our retail days run from February to December and are always on the first Saturday of every month, open from 10am until 4pm. Our sole focus on these days is to be with our retail customers, and we can expect that no trade customers arrive on these days
    • Retail customers are not permitted to use any trade account from our regular customers. Our trade customers must be present with their clients if they would like to use a wholesale account
